Smoke Free Cruises have really become more and more popular the last few years.  With that said.  There are no cruise lines or cruise ships that I know of that completely ban smoking on board a cruise ship.  I do know some of the cruise lines that have smoking policies and they tell you where you can smoke and what you can smoke.  I can tell you that on the several cruises I have taken in the last couple of years, the smoking and second hand smoke seems to be controlled in a much better way and manner by the cruise ships.

Smoke on any type of cruise ship is dangerous.  The Princess incident in Jamaica a few years ago really made the cruise lines and passengers realize the dangers of what can happen if a fire breaks out while at sea.   The following picture is of the Star Princess after a fire broke out in one of the ships cabins at night.  There were over 150 cabins between three decks that received smoke or water damage from this fire.

Smoke Free Cruises

Several cruise lines and ships have tried to limit or ban smoking completely but they found out that some people will not go on their ships and so the cruise lines backed down and made the ships have smoking policies that outlined what could be smoked and where.

The smoking of cigarettes is pretty much allowed on all the ships and the ships provide you with areas that are acceptable for you to smoke in while cruising on their vessel.  Some ships have banned Cigar smoking completely or have made cigar smokers go to a contained and sealed Brandy Bar or lounge to smoke these disgusting things.  I cannot see why any cruise line or cruise ship would allow people to smoke cigars except they want them to drink while they are smoking.  For some great Alaskan Cruises 2011 sailings on smoke restricted cruise ships, take a look here.  There are also some good sites available for Cruises 2013 voyages and you can find this cruise info at Cruises2013.com.

Some of the better smoking policies I have found will be on 7 day Silversea Cruises, Regent Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Crystal Cruises.  These are just a sample of the many cruise lines that have now established a smoking policy or rules to smoke by.  No cruise line has a non-smoking policy so we just have to make due with these crazy smoking policies and rules.  But since we all enjoy taking a cruise I do not mind people smoking as long as I do not have to smell it, taste it or watch it.

Remember the cruise lines and cruise ships are in the business of making money and they have found out that the when people smoke they will usually want to drink and the reverse also, when people drink those people that smoke want to be able to smoke.  Thus the cruise lines want to sell more liquor and alcohol and that could be a major reason why they will not ban smoking completely.  For some great Discount Cruises and cruise information including sailings and itineraries, this site has it all for those last minute and late breaking discount cruise deals.  The cruise lines that offer Cruise Hawaiian voyages all seem to have decent no-smoking policies on their Hawaiian cruise voyages and this helps all of us who take these cruises.
